At Ballard Grain and Blade, we take care in every step of getting your finished piece from our shop to you. This policy explains our shipping timelines, local delivery and pickup options, carrier responsibilities, storage terms, and what to expect if something does not go as planned during transit.
Ballard Grain and Blade currently ships within the United States only.
Order Processing & Shipping Timelines
Production and processing times vary depending on whether an item is ready-made, made to order, or fully custom.
Ready-Made Items
Ready-made items are generally handed to USPS or another applicable carrier within 2 business days after the order is received.
Made-to-Order Items
Made-to-order items are generally handed to the carrier within 7–10 business days.
Custom Commissions
Custom commissions are generally handed to the carrier within approximately 3–8 weeks, depending on project scope, materials, design requirements, finishing needs, and other project-specific considerations.
Custom-project timelines are estimates unless a specific completion or delivery date has been agreed upon in writing.
Shipping Carriers
USPS is our primary shipping carrier for most orders.
Larger, heavier, oversized, or custom pieces may require another carrier, freight service, specialty delivery service, or other shipping method based on the size, weight, destination, and handling requirements of the order.
Ballard Grain and Blade reserves the right to select an appropriate shipping method when standard parcel shipping is not suitable for the finished piece.
Shipping Costs
Standard Orders
Shipping charges for standard online orders are calculated at checkout based on the available shipping options for the order and destination.
Custom Orders
Because the final dimensions and weight of a custom piece may not be known until production is complete, final shipping charges for custom orders are calculated after the build is finished.
Before production begins, Ballard Grain and Blade will provide an estimated shipping cost based on the anticipated dimensions, weight, destination, and information available at that time.
The final shipping charge may differ from the initial estimate if the completed piece varies in size, weight, packaging requirements, or shipping method.
Tracking & Shipping Insurance
Tracking information for shipped orders is sent to the customer by email once the shipment has been prepared and tracking information becomes available.
Customers are encouraged to monitor the tracking information provided and contact us if a shipment appears significantly delayed, damaged, or otherwise unusual.
Carrier Transit Times & Delays
Once an order has been transferred to the shipping carrier, transit timing is subject to the carrier’s network and operations.
Delays may occur because of weather, holidays, service disruptions, transportation issues, high shipping volume, natural disasters, or other circumstances outside Ballard Grain and Blade’s reasonable control.
Estimated Delivery Dates
Delivery dates or transit estimates provided by USPS or another carrier are estimates only and are not guaranteed by Ballard Grain and Blade.
Carrier-provided delivery estimates may change after shipment. We are happy to assist with reviewing tracking information and contacting the carrier when appropriate if a shipment appears significantly delayed.
Lost, Delayed or Missing Packages
If a package appears to be delayed or missing, please contact Ballard Grain and Blade. We will gladly assist with reviewing the tracking information and, when appropriate, working with the carrier to initiate a missing-package search or shipping insurance claim.
If tracking shows that a package has been delivered but you are unable to locate it, we recommend first checking around the delivery location, with household members or neighbors, and with the carrier.
Please also contact Ballard Grain and Blade so we can help determine the appropriate next steps.
Replacement or refund decisions for lost, stolen, or carrier-confirmed delivered packages will be evaluated based on the circumstances of the shipment and the outcome of any applicable carrier investigation or insurance claim.
Shipping Damage
We carefully package every order and include shipping insurance on all shipped orders.
If your order arrives damaged, please contact Ballard Grain and Blade within 7 calendar days of delivery.
Please include clear photographs of the damaged item, exterior packaging, interior packaging, and shipping label. Customers should retain all original packaging until the issue has been reviewed and resolved, as this documentation may be required for a carrier insurance claim.
Once the necessary information has been received, we will review the situation and work with the customer and carrier to determine the appropriate resolution.
Shipping Addresses & Customer Information
Customers are responsible for providing complete and accurate shipping information at the time of purchase.
If incorrect or incomplete information results in additional shipping charges, returned packages, redelivery costs, address correction fees, or other carrier expenses, those additional costs are the responsibility of the customer.
Please contact Ballard Grain and Blade as soon as possible if you notice an error in your shipping information.
Returned or Undeliverable Packages
If a shipment is returned to Ballard Grain and Blade because of an incorrect or incomplete address, refusal of delivery, failure to claim the package, or another issue caused by information or actions on the customer’s part, the customer will be responsible for the actual cost of shipping the order again.
If a shipment is returned because of an error by Ballard Grain and Blade, we will cover the cost of correcting and reshipping the order.
Orders requiring updated shipping information or additional arrangements will not be resent until the necessary information has been received and any applicable additional shipping charges have been paid.
A returned custom or made-to-order shipment does not automatically cancel the underlying order or make the item eligible for a refund.
Shipping Method Changes & Shipping Refunds
Customers may request a change to the shipping method before the shipping label has been purchased.
If the requested shipping method costs more than the original method, the customer is responsible for the difference in shipping cost.
Once a shipping label has been purchased, the shipping charge is non-refundable.
Shipping charges already incurred are generally non-refundable unless the shipment or return is the result of an error by Ballard Grain and Blade.
Signature-Required Deliveries
For added protection, shipped orders with an order value greater than $200 require a signature upon delivery.
Customers are responsible for making appropriate arrangements to ensure someone is available to receive and sign for the shipment.
Local Delivery
Ballard Grain and Blade offers free local delivery within 15 miles of ZIP code 97007 in Beaverton, Oregon.
Once an order is complete, we will contact the customer directly to arrange a mutually agreed-upon delivery date and time. Someone must be present to receive the order.
Delivery Outside Our Free Local Area
Delivery outside the complimentary 15-mile radius may be available for an additional fee on a case-by-case basis.
Missed Local Deliveries
If a delivery is attempted and no one is available to receive the order, a $35 redelivery fee may apply.
We understand that unexpected circumstances happen. Reasonable special circumstances may be considered on a case-by-case basis, and proactive communication is always appreciated.
Delivery Access & Customer Responsibility
For larger or specialty deliveries, customers are responsible for confirming that the finished piece will fit through all necessary doorways, hallways, stairways, elevators, gates, and other access points.
Customers are responsible for providing a reasonably clear and safe path for delivery, including access through entryways, walkways, stairs, driveways, and surrounding areas.
Delivery & Placement
Standard local delivery includes transportation and normal handoff or reasonable placement of the finished piece. Delivery does not include mounting, permanent attachment, construction, electrical work, plumbing work, or other installation services unless specifically agreed upon and legally permitted.
Local Pickup
Local pickup is available by arrangement at a mutually agreed-upon public location.
We ask that pickup arrangements be made within 7 calendar days of the ready-for-pickup notification and that pickup be completed within 14 calendar days.
We understand that construction schedules, work demands, travel, transportation issues, and other circumstances can make pickup timing difficult. Clear and proactive communication is appreciated.
Orders remaining unclaimed after 14 calendar days without an agreed-upon extension may be subject to a storage fee of $30 per day beginning on day 15.
Holding Completed Orders
If a customer asks Ballard Grain and Blade to delay shipment after an order has been completed, we are happy to hold the finished order for up to 7 calendar days at no additional charge.
After 7 calendar days, a $30 per day storage fee may apply until the order is shipped or another arrangement has been agreed upon.
We understand that travel, construction schedules, moving timelines, and other circumstances may affect when a customer is ready to receive an order. Reasonable special circumstances may be considered when communicated with us in advance.
Requested Delivery Dates & Deadlines
If you have a specific date by which you hope to receive your order, such as a wedding, event, business opening, holiday, construction milestone, or other important deadline, please let Ballard Grain and Blade know as early as possible.
We will make every reasonable effort to accommodate requested timelines, but production and carrier delivery dates are estimates unless a specific deadline has been agreed upon in writing.
If a deadline is critical, please discuss it with us before placing or approving the order so we can determine whether the requested timeline is realistic.
Transfer Centers & Third-Party Receiving Locations
If a customer chooses to have an order delivered to a freight forwarder, transfer center, package forwarding service, third-party receiving facility, or other intermediary location, Ballard Grain and Blade’s responsibility for the shipment ends once the carrier confirms delivery to the address provided to Ballard Grain and Blade.
Any loss, damage, delay, mishandling, additional transportation, or delivery issue occurring after confirmed delivery to that intermediary location becomes the responsibility of the customer and/or the third-party service selected by the customer.
Policy Updates
Ballard Grain and Blade may update this Shipping, Delivery & Pickup Policy from time to time as our services, carriers, processes, or business needs change.
The version of this policy in effect at the time of purchase will apply to that order unless another arrangement has been agreed upon in writing.
